    What's New in Tucson - November 2004
Café Terra Cotta Back in Action! – Popular Tucson restaurant Café Terra Cotta is scheduled to reopen in late December, after a fire forced its closure in July.

The Historic Tubac Golf Resort is Expanding – Bing Crosby and a group of local notables opened this 400 acre resort in 1959. While the original charm remains, Tubac Golf Resort is adding a 2,700 square foot ballroom, 4,200 of covered and open patio space, 24 additional casitas, a shopping village, artisan’s studio, and a new Mexican restaurant – Dos Silos. Future plans include a full-service spa and 9 additional holes of golf.

World’s-First Gay Health Resort & Spa Opens November 15 – Coyote Moon Health Resort & Spa, nestled at the base of the Tucson Mountains, opens for the first time November 15. Coyote Moon is the first health resort spa targeted for the gay and lesbian community. The property’s history goes back 150 years when it was a stage coach stop. The original lava-rock building still remains and now houses a juice bar.

More Hotel – Resort Openings in December – Tucson’s newest resort in 20 years opens December 15, 2004. The JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa will be Tucson’s largest resort with 575 rooms. Also on December 15, a new Residence Inn by Marriott opens at the Williams Centre. It features 120 studio, 1, and 2 bedroom suites. Every room will be equipped with high-speed internet access.

Largest Travel Writer Show in Arizona – Travel Media Showcase comes to Tucson November 3-6, bringing with it more than 100 travel writers. This is the largest travel writer show ever held in Arizona.

Stephen King’s Desperation – Hollywood returns to Tucson and Bisbee as production of the ABC/Disney miniseries Desperation begins. King’s 1997 bestseller is set in a haunted mine. Location scouts took one look at Bisbee’s Queen Mine and knew they had to bring the project here. Interior filming will be done on sound stages being built inside the Tucson Convention Center. Filming wraps up in December, and we’re told the miniseries is scheduled to air on ABC next spring.
