Fox Tucson Theatre Ready to Roll - The Fox Tucson Theatre originally built in 1930 as a vaudeville venue and movie palace will reopen after extensive reconstruction on December 31st and screen its first movie in 31 years on January 7, 2006. To maintain the original unique Art Deco look and feel, all of the original murals have been restored. Seat coverings, carpeting, and decorative tile have been painstakingly reconstructed and preserved. Behind the scenes, modern theatrical and mechanical features were installed to create a more flexible and safe venue. The theatre, located in the heart of Downtown Tucson, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a “Nationally Significant Structure”. This Tucson treasure is the only Southwestern Art Deco Movie Theatre known to exist. Visit www.foxtucsontheatre.org to learn more.
