CEO OF TUCSON VISITORS BUREAU NAMED TOURISM CHAMPION OF THE YEAR AT 2008 GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE

TUCSON, Ariz. (July 24, 2008) - The Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce that CEO Jonathan Walker was recently honored as Tourism Champion of the Year at the 2008 Governor's Conference on Tourism at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa.

Walker and other tourism leaders were honored at the 2008 Governor's Conference by Arizona tourism professionals and the Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT). AOT Director Margie A. Emmermann and Deputy Director Kelly Paisley presented the awards during the Governor's Awards Luncheon at the Westin La Paloma on July 10, with more than 500 tourism industry members from private and public sectors in attendance.  Walker was honored by his peers for more than 20 years of dedicated service to the hospitality industry in Arizona.

The Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the Tucson area as a convention, group tour, visitor and film production destination. It is financially supported by the City of Tucson, Pima County, the Town of Oro Valley and nearly 800 business members.
