TUCSON NAMED ONE OF AMERICA'S
TOP ADVENTURE TOWNS

TUCSON, Ariz. (August 15, 2008). Tucson has been named to National Geographic Adventure magazine's list of the top 50 adventure towns in America.

The list places Tucson among 13 Rocky Mountain-area cities. Tucson and Prescott were the only Arizona cities receiving accolades.

Tucson's "adventure town" ranking comes largely thanks to the Old Pueblo's abundance of cycling paths - more than 500 miles of which link together 128 city parks. The article also highlights rock climbing, hiking, skiing, cycling and mountain biking opportunities on Mt. Lemmon.

Criteria for the cities selected included innovation and future opportunities, access to outdoor adventure and wide-open spaces, jobs, cultural activities and more. The complete list is available on the magazine's website.

The Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the Tucson area as a convention, group tour, visitor and film production destination. It is financially supported by the City of Tucson, Pima County, the Town of Oro Valley and nearly 800 business members.
