Tucson CVB Offers Locals Incentives for Bringing Meetings
Tucson, Ariz., January 21, 2009. The Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau (MTCVB) is tapping the local community for meeting/convention leads, preferably from personal contacts. Once the information is received, the MTCVB team will call the contact, provide information on the destination and send out requests for proposals to appropriate venues. When the meetings are booked, MTCVB's Convention Services group will offer assistance organizing off-site events, transportation, marketing support and more.
This program is an arm of the bureau's Embrace Tourism initiative created to educate the community on the significance and impact of tourism to our region. With the Embrace Tourism and Win incentive MTCVB seeks to create an opportunity for people to participate in and contribute to Tucson's meetings/convention business and reward them for doing so. "Most business community members are involved in national associations that meet annually. Now is the time to bring these meetings to Tucson; not only to help the local economy, but to save money on travel." states Jonathan Walker, President/CEO of MTCVB.
MTCVB will reward Tucsonans who provide strong, qualified leads. Initially, all qualified referrals will be rewarded with a $100 gift certificate to the Tucson Originals group of restaurants. The names of each qualified lead provider will be placed in a drawing for $1000 La Encantanda shopping spree, $500 toward a day at Miraval Tucson Resort, a $5,000 radio advertising schedule at a Citadel Broadcasting Radio Station with a custom marketing consultation, Tucson Symphony Orchestra season tickets or one of three sets of two round-trip domestic airline tickets.
