2009 Grammy Winners Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano
Return to La Frontera Tucson International Mariachi Conference

Feb. 25, 2009 (TUCSON, Ariz.) -- On February 8, 2009, Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano won the 2009 Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Album (Vocal or Instrumental) for "Amor, Dolor Y Lágrimas: Música Ranchera" (tied with Mariachi Divas: "Canciones De Amor").

Apart from the winning such superlative professional accolades, Nati Cano y Los Camperos' love and dedication to the genre is evident by their continued commitment to the La Frontera Tucson International Mariachi Conference. This will be their 23rd consecutive year at the conference, starring in the Espectacular Concert as well as being the musical driving force behind the mariachi student workshops.

Nati Cano is a celebrated master of mariachi and is credited with taking the mariachi tradition from the streets of Mexico to some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Among his many accomplishments Nati was one of the first 50 artists to receive a grant from the United States Artists, taught at UCLA and was the recipient of the 1990 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship award, which is our nation's highest recognition for folk and traditional artists.

Tickets to the Espectacular Concert are $48, $68 and $88 (includes T.C.C. Facility Fee) and can be purchased by going to the TCC Ticket Office, online at www.ticketmaster.com or through the LFTIMC Coordinator's office, 520-838-3908.

Each year proceeds from the LFTIMC benefit children's services of La Frontera Center, Inc. This caring, non-profit organization reaches out into the community to help where other social programs fall short. With the continued assistance from the LFTIMC, La Frontera Center, Inc continues to make a positive impact on the families and children of Southern Arizona.
