ARIZONA DISTANCE CLASSIC EVENT
RETURNS TO BEAUTIFUL TUCSON / ORO VALLEY

Tucson, Ariz., March 11, 2009 - The Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon and Northwest Medical Center 5k returns to Oro Valley on Sunday, March 29, 2009.  This event entertains, challenges, and celebrates runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Whether participants complete the half-marathon (13.1 miles), the Northwest Medical Center 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk, or the Oro Valley Kids Fun Run, everyone gets a hero's send off and a big honkin" Finisher's Medal at the end.

The event not only serves to promote fun, healthy living, but it now benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Visit http://www.arizonadistanceclassic.com/  for more information.

Not an athlete?  Not a runner?  Not a problem.  Arizona Distance Classic organizers offer tips and even a dedicated trainer to help keep people motivated.  Oro Valley's 123 Fit owner Kerri Ruffel is the official trainer for this year's event.  Local partners including the Oro Valley-based All About Running and Walking and the Northwest Medical Center Oro Valley's Commit to Be Fit Program are there to help.  Visit the event website for more information!

Register online at http://www.arizonadistanceclassic.com/. The entry fee is $70 now and $80 race weekend for the half marathon and $35/$40 for the 5K, and the kids'; Fun Run is FREE. REGISTER NOW, THERE WILL BE NO RACE-DAY REGISTRATION.

7:15 am Northwest Medical Center 5K Run/Walk
10:00 am Kids' Fun Run

  • 9 years of age & under: 1/4 mile run
  • 10-11 years of age: 1/2 mile run
  • 12-14 years of age: 1 mile run

The MTCVB is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Tucson-area as a convention, visitor, and film production destination.  It is financially supported by the City of Tucson, Pima County, the Town of Oro Valley and its nearly 800 individual and business members.
