BIKERS TO GATHER FOR FUN, CHARITY IN NOGALES, AZ
TUCSON, Ariz. (May 1, 2009) -- Hundreds of bikers are getting ready to converge on peaceful communities not far from the Mexico border this June. Not to worry -- Rio Rico and Nogales Arizona are already getting ready in classic frontier style with welcome signs, sun lotion and big hearts.
The Southern Arizona Harley Riders Motorcycle Club's 18th Annual Run To The Border will be headquartered at The Esplendor Resort at Rio Rico on June 5-6. The non-profit organization is charging a $15 entrance fee for non-resort guests. The money will be donated to southern Arizona charities including Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations, Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Ft. Huachuca Widow Support Group and Habitat for Humanity, among others.
The organization has donated over $100,000 to charity to date, says Suzi Brackhahn, chairperson for the event, and past Run To The Border weekends have attracted between 500 and 1,000 bikers. This is the first year to have all the events in one location and Brachahn says she is hopeful this year's turnout will be strong despite the economy. "It's a lot of fun," she says, "and these riders have big hearts."
Attractions at the resort include kid's games, bike show, biker games, 50/50 drawings, auction, a clue ride, on site poker hands, and music provided by a DJ and band. Numerous vendors will also be on hand.
