Esplendor Resort at Rio Rico Offers Vacation Payment Plan
Like many resorts across the country this year, the Esplendor Resort at Rio Rico, south of Tucson, is missing just one thing: the usual guests.
"It's not that they won't come, it's that they can't come," said David Miller, General Manager. "They are tight on credit and tight on cash. But they still want -- and need -- a getaway."
The 179-room resort, which features a Trent Jones Sr. 18-hole course, has launched a new program to capture those people Miller has described. Called Summer Paycation, the resort requires just one-third down on room and tax and will bill the remaining lodging charges over 60 days. It is good for a two to seven- day stay.
The program offers a well discounted $118 per night plus the usual $10 resort fee. "We didn't want to penalize people for this economy. There are really great deals out there but it doesn't matter if you can't fit them into your monthly budget" Miller said.
They offer 20% off the room rate in the same package, if guests pay the full amount at checkout.
There is also no credit check for the program and the cards are authorized only for the amount to be billed on the first installment. Guests sign a credit card authorization form at check-in which allows the balance to be billed on the 15th of each of the following months.
"This is a stressful time for everyone," said Miller. "We hope is this will allow that vacation and family time for people who really need it."
