The Lariat Steakhouse Launches Battle of the Bands
Four Bands in Four Categories to be Awarded Prizes and Paid Bookings
July 2, 2009 - Tucson, Arizona- The Lariat Steakhouse, one of Tucson's oldest and historic destination restaurants and nightclubs, today launched Battle of the Bands, a competition designed to give local musicians an opportunity to perform publically, earn prizes as well as paid bookings at the Lariat Steakhouse. The competition starts July 6 and runs through September, 2009 and winners will be announced on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Music categories include rock, country, jazz, pop and more. Interested musicians can submit their applications by emailing contact@lariatsteakhouseaz.com, with name of their band, contact information, including name of band leader, web site and music category they wish to compete in.
The Lariat is one of Tucson's oldest music venues and has been known host to some of the country's best known musicians including Mel Tillis, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Milsap and Waylon Jennings. In addition, the restaurant and nightclub has also supported local talent as well, with the first Battle of the Bands competition as an example and one that will give lesser known musicians the opportunity for greater visibility.
A panel of three judges will evaluate each band based upon a score of 50% musical talent and 50% on the audience and fans they draw. The grand prize winner (one band) will receive at least three paid bookings at the Lariat Steakhouse, $1,000.00 in Limoport limousine service gift certificates, $500.00 in Lariat gift certificates as well as additional entitlements. Participating bands will also receive complimentary dinner, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and 25% off alcoholic beverages on the nights they perform.
