1. Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Add To myTucson Vacation Planner
883-1380, 2021 N. Kinney Rd., west of Tucson. $9/ adults, $2/children 5–12, under 5 free. 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Oct.–Feb., 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Mar.–Sept., 7:30–10 a.m. June–Aug. Sat. only. Allow 3–4 hours.
Photograph hundreds of native plants and animals, most in natural habitats. Easy walking access makes it possible to bring along all your favorite equipment.

2. Saguaro National Park West Add To myTucson Vacation Planner
733-5158, on Kinney Road, 10 miles west of Tucson. $10/vehicle.
The visitor center, just north of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, has a good area map. Select from sweeping mountain landscapes to foothills covered with native shrubs and saguaros. Visit Picture Rocks—drive north and east from the visitor center through massive rock formations and pristine desert.

3. Organ Pipe National Monument Add To myTucson Vacation Planner
520-387-7742, 520-387-6849, off AZ Hwy. 85, south of Ajo, AZ. $8/vehicle—valid for 1 week. Open 24 hours. Visitor center open 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
A forest of organ pipe cactus. In May, June, and July the cactus sprout large lavender-white flowers that open only at night (bring a camera flash). Excellent area to find spring wildflowers.
