Day 5 Add Day Trip To myTucson

1. Nature's Hideaway at Discovery Park Add To myTucson Vacation Planner
Please call before visiting 888-837-1841. Off U.S. Hwy. 191, in Safford, AZ. $4/adults, $3/children 6-11, under 5 free. Open Tues.–Sat. 1–10 p.m.
This area within Discovery Park is being restored for birders. Viewing decks and a bird blind overlook a pond with ancient cottonwoods where plenty of resident and migratory birds flock.

2. Swift Trail Add To myTucson Vacation Planner
928-428-4150, on AZ Hwy. 366, near Safford. U.S. Forest Service facility, open 24 hours during summer. Closed for snow mid-October to mid-April.
Birding along the switchbacks of this mountain road can be surprising, especially good for warblers. There are many pull-outs and camping areas in a wide range of habitats as you climb from 3,000 to 10,000 feet along the 32-mile road.
