Description: Take your game to a new level at The Westin La Paloma, Tucson’s premier private club where country club sophistication and luxury combine. Operated by Troon Golf, known for superior service, course surfaces and amenities, the award-winning 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course is exclusive to resort guests and La Paloma Country Club members. Inspired by the Santa Catalina Mountains as a backdrop and punctuated by the high Sonoran Desert’s natural beauty, “The Golden Bear’s” Signature Design golf course is a golfer’s paradise.
The Ridge, Canyon and Hill courses nestle acres of lush high Sonoran Desert terrain encircling The Westin La Paloma. Bring your video camera as well as golf clubs to capture what Dan La Rouere, General Manager of La Paloma Country Club, aptly refers to as “The Nature Channel.” Quail, doves, toads, lizards, bobcats, javalinas, coyotes, owls, hawks, and a large variety of birds are found sharing the course at pre-dawn and dusk. Mature mesquite and Palo Verde trees, multi-colored flowering plants, and indigenous succulents, such as prickly pear, barre, agave, and cholla cacti begin where the greens end.
Personally designed by world renowed architect and player, Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1984, each course is appropriately named according to its style. La Paloma Country Club is located at an elevation of approximately 2,300 feet, which explains why rolling hills define the Hill Course in contrast to more valleys found on the Canyon Course. One might argue the best views of the Santa Catalina Mountains are found on the Ridge Course, but play all three first to find out.
