Area Visitor Centers Discover Southern Arizona’s borderland culture, beauty, and history

Borderland culture, Old Western history, and outdoor adventure live in the small towns and cities of Southern Arizona. Still relatively undiscovered, this region offers easy-paced, family-friendly activities perfect for weekend getaways and extended adventures. Most of these communities were settled by pioneering ranchers, miners, missionaries, and soldiers. Legends such as Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, and Big Nose Kate, Geronimo and Chief Cochise, Pancho Villa, and the Buffalo Soldiers traveled many of the same paths featured in the following itineraries. Along the way, visitors will find local museums, galleries, restaurants, and shops showcasing the region’s multi-cultural flavor and, of course, lots of wide-open spaces for roaming.
