$2 Admission Sundays All Summer to feature Science Fun and Special Guests! Fun-filled learning is happening this summer at the Children’s Museum Tucson with Science Sundays from May 20th through September 2nd.  This Sunday-only program will feature science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) themed activities from 10:30am to 4:00pm.  Museum staff and weekly guest organizations will provide hands-on fun for visitors with animals, physics, math, lasers and much more.  The Planetary Science Institute kicks off this summer program with solar eclipse activities on May 20th.  Science Sundays are also $2 admission days.

Led by the resort’s colorfully-uniformed mascot, Ranger Ron, a devotee of fun and games and an expert in Southwestern wildlife, history and Arizona’s high Sonoran Desert lifestyle, the Dove Mountain Rangers have introduced a guided program of desert adventures highlighted by the following. An expanded roster of further activities will be announced throughout the spring.

Geo-Caching Desert Treasure Hunt – For Children, Adults, Groups and Families
A first in the region, geo-caching is now presented by the Dove Mountain Rangers and allows GPS-carrying guests to seek hidden “caches” where resort collectibles are tucked away. Using provided GPS technology, guests will walk along the resort’s Wild Burro, Alamo Spring and Upper Javelina trails, seeking caches hidden behind cacti, trees and rocks.  Each treasure hunt leads to six such hideaways, and found treasures may be kept by each guest as mementos of a successful hunt.

The Desert Tortoise and Desert Wildlife Experience
The Dove Mountain Rangers love introducing young guests to their desert friends, including Rocky the Desert Tortoise, a friendly tarantula, and two non-poisonous snakes, all of whom live with and are cared for by the trained Ranger staff.  The property’s Desert Tortoise Habitat has allowed Rocky the Desert Tortoise to enjoy the company of young resort guests, as well as round-the-clock TLC from the Rangers, and a gourmet diet of lettuce, fruit, vegetables and grass. Desert wildlife abounds at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, and the Dove Mountain Rangers also present a night-time Bug Experience and other animal adventures, allowing kids to get up-close-and-personal with critters from the 850 scenic acres surrounding the resort.

A spectacular sunset awaits following this 90-minute guided hike through the lush Sonoran Desert, and it ends with a refreshing cocktail in the hotel’s Ignite Lounge. This 2.7-mile hike for grown-ups allows recreational hikers to witness not only the ever-changing Arizona sunset, but also hundreds of towering saguaros and native flora and fauna rarely seen in some desert locales. Led by uniformed Dove Mountain Rangers, the excursion ranges in elevation from about 2,700 feet to nearly 3,400 feet and is already a best-seller.

First and third Fridays at 7 p.m., from May 4 to Aug. 17  Geronimo Plaza Courtyard, Park and Euclid Avenues on University Boulevard  - Free - This summer, audiences can experience the variety of cultural influences that have diversified jazz music throughout the century - in Spanish, fusion, classic, smooth and more. Friday Night LIVE!, a new Summer Jazz Concert Series, will explore an assortment of jazz genres. The free series will feature the best in local jazz music. All ages can enjoy the live entertainment under the stars at Main Gate Square with pedestrian-friendly dining and shopping. Main Gate Square features more than 20 retailers and 30 restaurants near the University of Arizona. All Main Gate merchants validate parking for the Tyndall Garage Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to midnight.  

Second Saturdays - 6:15 p.m. opening jam session, 7 p.m. headlining performer - Crossroads at Silverbell Park, 7548 N. Silverbell Road - Free - An award-winning, banjo-picking, story-telling group of musicians will bring audiences to the roots of American folk music this summer. The Marana Bluegrass Summer Concert Series, presented in partnership with the Desert Bluegrass Association and Town of Marana through September, promises to deliver quality music to the bluegrass enthusiast and give new listeners an appreciation for this rustic style of music. The bands performing their songs and stories feature some of the regions most established and well-known bluegrass musicians. Admission to the Marana Bluegrass Concert Series is free and open to everyone. Donations are encouraged to help support the continuation of these free community concerts.  

Third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., final performance June 21 - Oro Valley Marketplace, southwest corner of Oracle Road and Tangerine Road - Free - A unique partnership between the Town of Oro Valley and the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance (SAACA) has created an evening concert series offering a community enriching experience. The series, taking place at Oro Valley Marketplace, celebrates multiple musical styles for free concerts. The free concerts will feature swing jazz, blues, funk, Americana and more in the upcoming months, located at Century Theatres Courtyard.

This FREE second annual, nationally-acclaimed event will feature acoustic music, kid's activities and some of the regions finest artisans in the cool, air conditioned setting of a beautiful resort. The Hilton El Conquistador is set at the base of the majestic Pusch View Mountains in Oro Valley. Handmade jewelry, watercolor and acrylic paintings, woodwork, pottery, metalwork, mixed media, textiles, leatherwork, copper enameling and much more will appear at the festival. A kaleidoscope of fashion, food, music, libations and live art will light up the night at the Splash! summer charity event benefiting the arts. Vivid fashions on the runway will feature an array of colors from La Encantada retailers and hand painted dresses and suits from local artists in crafted wearable art. Local artists will create brilliantly colorful abstract and modern paintings onsite during the event, with their artwork auctioned and sold later in the evening. Area restaurants will serve richly colorful dinner and decadent dessert samplings. Cocktails will be inspired from drinks like the red raspberry cosmo, orange flux and blue sky martini. Pulsating and energetic music will also play from the main stage during the runway fashion show.

Up to 50 artists are slated to present and sell their work at the inaugural Loews Ventana Canyon Indoor Arts and Crafts Festival this summer in the Tucson Foothills. The FREE festival will feature the work of premier artisans who specialize in everything from oil paintings to sculpture, from rustic furniture to handcrafted jewelry. A children's activity booth will offer youngsters the opportunity to experience the festivals creative atmosphere, and the event will showcase an eclectic mix of artists in an elegant setting.

Draw, paint, sculpt, collage, print, and more! Children ages 5-13 will discover culture and art from around the world at the Museum's Summer Arts Program, June 4 - August 10. Experiences will inspire children to create original works of art in a variety of gallery and studio activities. Each weekly session is planned and led by art teachers who focus on lessons in fine art making. Classes are offered for three age groups: 5-7, 8-10, and 11-13 years of age. Hours are 8:30am - 12:30pm. Cost: Members $100/session, Non-members $155/session.
