TUCSON, AZ — Just over two weeks after opening its doors, Seis Cantina is excited to officially introduce itself to the Tucson community.
Created by the Muñoz family, founders of Seis Kitchen, Seis Cantina is a new Sonoran-inspired cantina concept now operating at the former Seis Kitchen location in Joesler Village. While the space has changed, the family's commitment to quality ingredients, warm hospitality, and regional Mexican cuisine remains stronger than ever.
For nearly nine years, Seis Kitchen proudly served the Casas Adobes and Foothills communities from Joesler Village. However, as dining habits and guest expectations evolved, it became clear that the larger, more labor-intensive Seis Kitchen model was no longer the best fit for the neighborhood.
Rather than stepping away from a space that has become an important gathering place, the Muñoz family chose to invest in a concept they have been developing for years: Seis Cantina.
"As a family business, we feel a responsibility to our employees, our vendor partners, and the community that has supported us for more than a decade," said the Muñoz family. "We wanted to create a concept that would allow us to continue serving this neighborhood while remaining true to our roots and sustainable for the future."
Inspired by the family's food truck beginnings and the authentic taquerías and cantinas found throughout Sonora and Northern Mexico, Seis Cantina offers a focused menu built around Sonoran-style family recipes, street food favorites, and approachable pricing.
Guests will find smokey carne asada, pollo asado, carnitas, tacos, burros, nachos, fresh salsas, cold cervezas, and handcrafted margaritas in an energetic and welcoming cantina atmosphere.
The streamlined menu is intentionally designed to deliver food at exceptional speed while maintaining the same care and attention to detail that guests have come to expect from the Seis brand. By focusing on a smaller menu, Seis Cantina is able to execute orders quickly, efficiently, and affordably—creating a dining experience that is both convenient and accessible.
"We heard the feedback from our guests," the family said. "People wanted a fun neighborhood spot where they could gather with friends, watch a game, enjoy a margarita, and feed a family of four without spending a fortune. That's exactly what we set out to create."
At a time when dining out continues to become more expensive, Seis Cantina was designed to offer quality-driven food at approachable prices, with many à la carte options that allow guests to customize their experience while staying within their budget.
The concept also celebrates the flavors of the Sonoran region that have influenced the Muñoz family's cooking for generations. Guests can expect familiar favorites, a growing selection of cantina-inspired offerings, and perhaps even a few iconic Sonoran classics making appearances on the menu.
More than anything, Seis Cantina is intended to be a neighborhood gathering place—a space where guests can enjoy great food, good company, and a lively atmosphere while supporting a local family business that remains deeply invested in Tucson.
"We are incredibly grateful for the support we've received over the past two weeks and throughout the years," said the family. "We understand that change can be difficult, and we appreciate every guest who has given Seis Cantina a try. We're excited about what we're building and hopeful that our community will continue this journey with us."
