Tucson, AZ -- We are proud and hope you will stop at the museum to see this powerful story! "A Slave's Story" opens October 17th at The African American Museum Of Southern Arizona.

We invite you to come to the museum!

This exhibition delves into the difficult yet inspiring experiences of an enslaved man who, despite enduring unimaginable hardships, and unfairness, persevered. He, along with so many other enslaved people, shape the world we live in today. Through this exhibit, we aim to honor and provide insight about his life and his resilience and the resilience of so many others.

Thanks to the generous contribution of the story by the descendants of Sterling Arnwine, Candice Hammons and Neftala Ellis, we have completed a new exhibition that showcases the deep connection of Arizonans to a history in a family that dates back over 150 years. His words are documented and in the archives of The United States Library of Congress.

In working on this exhibition, it not only tells a compelling narrative but also sparks important conversations around equity, racial norms and social justice.
