Tucson, AZ--- Opening during the worst pandemic in generations might be a risky bet for some but for Deb Tenino and Nick Kreutz, Locale, their highly acclaimed midtown restaurant, was an instant success.  Hitting all the right notes at the right time – Locale has the most perfect private patio in town, a finely tuned take out program, and well-spaced interior seating, Locale has become one of the top destinations in Tucson for lunch and dinner.  With the opening of Locale Café this Friday, February 4th, the original plans for the property will be complete. Located on the south side of the property, the Café will offer breakfast/brunch fare Tuesday through Sunday mornings from 8am to 11am.  “We are so happy to add this final piece to the puzzle and expand our offerings at Locale” said co-owner Tenino. “We are grateful to the community and this wonderful neighborhood for making us feel so welcome.”  


Pastry Chef Karen Lustig recently joined the Locale family and will oversee the offerings at the Café. With an extensive culinary background that includes Café Terra Cotta, Boccata Bistro, Pronto and Feast and more recently positions at AZ Party Rentals and Tucson Food Service, Lustig is thrilled to be settling back into chef mode. “I’m enjoying being in the kitchen again…the timing was perfect, and I love working with this great team at Locale. They’ve given me the opportunity to be creative with both the bakery and the dessert menu at the restaurant”, said Lustig. 


It won’t take long for the neighborhood to discover the morning delights of a freshly brewed Cappuccino with a freshly baked brioche or croissant.  Hardier fare includes the Breakfast Sandwich on a Brioche roll, soft scrambled egg, bacon, Fiscalini cheddar sriracha mayo, the Daily Frittata, one of several Paninitti – open faced sandwiches on house made Noble toast, Pizza a Taglio and more. All are offered to go, to enjoy in the café dining room or private patio.
