Tucson, AZ -  Tucson Botanical Gardens new outdoor exhibit, Frida’s Garden, will open to the public on Saturday, October 11. At the heart of the Gardens, this vibrant and colorful space captures the spirit of painter Frida Kahlo’s garden at La Casa Azul in Mexico City.

Frida’s Garden unfolds in a distinctive triangular layout, with winding paths, planting beds, and thoughtful resting spots. Set within “Frida-Blue” walls with red and yellow accents, a scaled-down version of Frida’s Aztec-inspired pyramid adds a sculptural focal point. Lush greenery and climbing vines offer a tropical echo of the garden at La Casa Azul, adapted with water-wise, desert-appropriate choices for a Southwestern twist.

Michelle Conklin, President and CEO, says, “Frida’s Garden is true to Frida’s fearless aesthetic and color plays a central role here. It’s also a deeply personal space inspired by the artist’s love of nature. The garden is a celebration not only of Frida Kahlo’s enduring legacy, but of cultural richness, creativity, and resilience—values that resonate deeply with our own mission.”
