About Jacob Acosta:

Jacob Acosta is a national performing artist based in Tucson, Arizona, where he has lived for over a decade. He has been featured on National Public Radio, played dozens of festivals and tours across the U.S., and has released seventeen records in the genres of blues/classic rock, indie-shoegaze, pop, deep house, Americana and folk since 2008 by his own namesake, along with the groups Mason, Roll Acosta, and Race You There. His new release, ‘Saint Corazón’ (2024), is a unique collection of ZonaFolk-pop music inspired by his love of the Southwest.

The nine lush tracks on ‘Saint Corazón’ are born from a live recorded session in Waterworks Studios by the trio Courtney Pinski (violin), Barry Young (bass), and Jacob Acosta (vocal/guitar) on July 17, 2021. Additional percussion and production tracks were added in Mesa, AZ at Flying Blanket Recording Studios by Andre Gressieux, Bob Hoag, Barry Young and Jacob Acosta the week of April 21st, 2024.

The mixing of this album was by the legendary Bob Hoag in Mesa, AZ, who also worked on Jacob’s releases,  ‘For The People By The People’ (2014), ‘Silver Lining’ (2015), and ‘Desert Sounds’ (2018). Mastering of this album was by the Grammy-winning Jason Livermore of the Blasting Room. The ‘Saint Corazón’ album was produced by Andre Gressieux, Barry Young, Bob Hoag, and Jacob Acosta at Flying Blanket Recording Studios.

The record features stories and songs of Sonoran influence with the primary character ‘Saint Corazón’ who spreads goodwill wherever he goes with his deeds, songs, and presence. Locally loved favorites regularly performed by Jacob Acosta all over Arizona and included are, “Honest Everyday”, “Maria”, and “Too Many Words” about being honest and doing more dancing. Heartfelt ballads “San Pedro” and “Laredo” also appear, one an ode to the river/riparian area originating south of the border, and the other a love story of the American dream. Instrumentally cinematic and fiery songs “Twenty First Century”, “Person of Interest”, and “Night Rider” paint a western backdrop, with a live performed bull whip by Bob Hoag, Courtney Pinski’s renowned fiddle lead, Andre Gressieux’s masterful percussion design, and Barry Young’s versatile psychedelic bass soundscape.

About the Album Artist:

Andrea Mendola, long-time local artist and teacher at the Drawing Studio in Tucson, was responsible for the creation of the ‘Saint Corazón’ art and character, incorporating the vibrant colors of the Sonoran Desert, and expressing the loving and positive spirit of the character ‘Saint Corazón’.

In the ornate and delicate piece you will see the archway of light, the “Corazón” orbs spinning around this saint of the heart and love, and our small desert galaxy capturing both the beauty of the days and nights in Arizona. Truly a wonder to behold, by a very talented artist!
