Tucson, Ariz. (February 1, 2023) – Living Streets Alliance is pleased to announce the Spring 2023 Cyclovia Tucson event which will take place on Sunday, April 16, 2023. From 9:00am to 3:00pm, the car-free route will connect neighborhoods in Tucson Wards 5 and 6, spanning from the Lost Barrio to Himmel Park.
During Tucson’s nineteenth Cyclovia Tucson event over three miles of local streets will be temporarily transformed into linear parks and block parties connecting an expected 40,000 people to local businesses, neighborhoods, organizations and each other. People of all ages and abilities are invited to walk, bike, skate, roll, play, explore, and learn during this free event.
The Spring 2023 event returns to a favorite Cyclovia Tucson route, last activated in 2017. Partners such as Miles Exploratory Learning Center, Lost Barrio and Sunshine Mile Businesses, —as well as vibrant neighborhoods like Barrio San Antonio, Rincon Heights, Miles and Sam Hughes—are located in or near the route and will help populate it with engaging activities this April.
Cyclovia Tucson events intentionally highlight low-stress routes for everyday multimodal travel. This route in particular features many new and nearly complete segments of Tucson’s Bicycle Boulevard network including 3rd Street, 9th Street and Treat Avenue. Coupled with trafficcalming and push-button signals at major intersections, these neighborhood streets provide lower-traffic routes for Tucsonans to utilize on foot and on bike throughout the year, not just during Cyclovia.
The Spring 2023 Cyclovia event is presented by Living Streets Alliance and made possible with support from Banner–University Medicine and dozens of other partners and sponsors including the City of Tucson, Cigna, and Pima County Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean Air Program.
Cyclovia Tucson is a bi-annual community event that transforms city streets through the participation of local groups, individuals, businesses, and organizations as activity hosts, volunteers and sponsors. The mission of Living Streets Alliance (LSA) is to advocate for a thriving Tucson by creating great streets for all of us.
