Tucson, AZ - The HSL Properties Tucson Jazz Festival returns on January 13-22, 2023. More than 20 world class performers will appear over the 9-day festival in a variety of venues both indoor and outdoor. Multiple performances are scheduled for most days, including featured performers at The Century Room, Tucson's grooviest jazz club. Now in its 9th year, the HSL Properties Tucson Jazz Festival has truly come into its own as one of the pre-eminent music events in the US. Even in the face of a global pandemic, the 2022 festival attracted visitors from around the US with an attendance of over 20,000. Festival Executive Director Khris Dodge believes that they can top that amount this year. “We are thrilled to bring performers from all over the world this year to the festival. From seasoned veterans and up-and-coming super-stars to straight-ahead jazz, re-imagined approaches, and spirited dance music, we will have something for every taste. Performances will take place throughout downtown Tucson at outdoor venues, historic theatres, and a few surprise pop-up locations. It’s the perfect time of year to spend a wonderful afternoon at an outdoor performance, enjoy dinner at any one of Tucson’s incredible restaurants, followed by an evening show at a historic theatre. Maybe even take in a late show at the Century Room! The Tucson Jazz Festival is a true labor of love that we share with our community and music lovers everywhere”.
Highlights of the opening weekend include the legendary Pink Martini, and the Tucson Jazz Festival Jam featuring national and local talents who will come together to create an “otherworldly” memorable day of music. The exceptional talents of Matthew Whitaker and his Quintet will grace the stage at the Fox and the Downtown Jazz Fiesta on MLK day with Elliot Mason from Jazz at Lincoln Center as well as international superstar. Gundhild Carling and many others are guaranteed to jump start the 2023 Tucson Jazz Festival. Performances throughout the first weekend will also feature Diego Figueiredo, Ken Peplowski, Vincent Herring, Jeremy Pelt, the Heavy Hitters and more.
Mid-week entertainment will include Arthur Vint’s multi-media interpretation of the music of Morricone, as well as Tatiana Eva- Marie and the Avalon Jazz Band who will perform in French, “Djhangology”a tribute to Djhango Rhinehart.
Weekend two commences with a triple header on opening night featuring Samara Joy, Pedrito Martinez and Alfredo Rodriguez with Armen Donelian. On into the weekend, performances will include ABSENCE: Terence Blanchard with the E-Collective and Turtle Island Quartet, Emmet Cohen, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Kurt Elling and others in the Monterey Jazz All-Stars on Tour, local favorites The Black Market Trust, The Guide, and the Arturo O’Farill Quintet. The festival closes with the great Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers. Additional artists will continue to be added to the lineup over the next few months.

The Tucson Jazz Festival was created to influence the discovery and celebration of live jazz performance and music education. The mission of the festival is to continue to expand its programming and access each year to encourage increasing community interest and attendance.
