Tucson, AZ – The Tucson Botanical Gardens and Tucson International Airport (TUS) are proud to announce a new partnership celebrating the Gardens’ 50th anniversary and a shared commitment to connecting residents and visitors to the beauty, culture, and spirit of Southern Arizona.
Through this collaboration, TUS travelers will experience a welcoming glimpse of the city’s vibrant botanical and artistic heritage before they even step outside the terminal. As part of this partnership, Tucson International Airport will sponsor a historic Los Angeles train depot within the newly reimagined Gardens’ model train exhibit, The Great Garden Express. This sponsored installation invites guests to experience the evolution of travel amidst G-scale model trains winding through an Arizona Sky Island landscape, highlighting the Gardens’ enduring role as a botanical and cultural landmark. Today, air travel links Tucson and Los Angeles with incredible ease. TUS offers up to 8 daily nonstop flights to the City of Angels.
Michelle Conklin, CEO/President says, “we are thrilled to announce this strategic partnership with the Tucson International Airport which allows us to enhance the visitor experience by connecting travel with nature. The airport's sponsorship of a historic Los Angeles depot in our newly reimagined attraction, The Great Garden Express, creates a welcoming gateway that blends travel with a one-of-a-kind display.”
“This partnership is a natural extension of our commitment to welcoming travelers with a sense of place,” said Tucson Airport Authority President/CEO Danette Bewley. “By supporting the Tucson Botanical Gardens, we’re helping to tell the story of Tucson’s vibrant culture and history from the moment visitors arrive.”
As Tucson Botanical Gardens looks ahead to the next 50 years, the initiative at TUS marks the beginning of expanded collaborations that highlight Tucson’s identity as a city of culture, connection, and natural wonder.
