[TUCSON, ARIZ., Jan. 15, 2025] — This week, Visit Tucson launched their new Astro Trail, highlighting the city as a must-visit destination for anyone fascinated by the night sky.

Guests can use the Astro Trail, available as a web app and printed guide, as their personal guide to the galaxy, exploring all dark-sky related stops in Tucson. The trail includes world-class astronomy institutes like Kitt Peak National Observatory and the Richard F Caris Mirror Lab where the largest telescope lenses in the world are made, to casual stargazing at national and state parks.

"This trail makes it easy for everyone to experience the best Tucson has to offer in terms of dark skies whether they’re serious astronomers or casual stargazers," Felipe Garcia, Visit Tucson's President and CEO said. "Tucson is one of the Astronomy capitals of the world alongside the Atacama Desert in Chile and we want everyone to find a way to connect with the stars here."

The city has long been an astronomer’s hub due to strict light pollution regulations set in the seventies, world-class observatories, and proximity to prestigious research institutions at the University of Arizona. It's these ordinances that have helped Saguaro National Park become certified as the world's ninth Urban Night Sky Place in late 2023 and why Tucson is home to the headquarters of DarkSky International.

Visitors can follow the Astro Trail to the stars by signing up on Visit Tucson's website at www.visittucson.org/AstroTrail.
