Acclaimed as finest example of mission architecture in U.S., southwest of Tucson on Tohono O'odham Reservation. Active parish. Gift shop. arts, crafts shop. Cafe nearby. For the first time in its more than 230-year history, free guided tours are now available. The 45-minute tours are led by specially trained, volunteer docents, who explain the Mission's history and its lavishly decorated interior, the richest and most ornate in the Southwest. Wonderful, spiritual mission. Knowledgable docents. Too bad missionaries converted Indians to Christianity. A lot of good it did for them...not
Interesting historical visit. You’ll learn about the construction, restoration and maintenance of the historical mission. It is a beautiful structure.
Beautiful church with interesting history
This was something I wanted to see and so glad we went. Try to get free tour for interesting facts. Some restoration work going on, but everything was viewable. Need to whisper inside church as...
