On the second Saturday of every month, go downtown for free family-friendly fun. On January 13: The Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum (Presidio Museum, next to Tucson Museum of Art) will focus on "blacksmithing in the Presidio" during its Living History Day, 10 a.m.3 p.m. At the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum (next to Maynards Market and Kitchen), starting at 4:45 p.m., kids can climb on Old Engine No. 1673, watch SHREK FOREVER AFTER starting at 5:45 p.m., and enjoy arts and crafts fun. A few blocks away, Children's Museum Tucson hosts two local arts groups in addition to its regular hands-on play-based learning programs, 5:30-8 p.m. (Children's Museum Tucson requires entering adults to be accompanied by kids (under 18) and all children must be supervised by an adult.) At Fox Tucson Theatre, award-winning illusionist Michael Howell, who puts smiles on faces everywhere he appears, will perform at 7 p.m. Other Downtown Tucson venues regularly host kid-friendly programs too; check 2ndSaturdaysDowntown.com for schedule. Families can stroll the downtown district and enjoy free live entertainment. For modest fees, get around on the streetcar, a TuGo bike, or the Good Shepherd Ranch's horse-drawn carriage and shop and dine at local venues.
