Agave Heritage Festival
Time: times vary, check website
Admission: Check website for ticket links and more details.
What began as a tequila-lover's Cinco de Mayo celebration has evolved into a 26-event fiesta rooted in the historical and cultural significance of the agave plant, featuring seminars and tradeshows, culinary and musical events, spirit and food tastings, and a film screening and an art exhibit -- all together offering a borderland taste of Tucson, in 2015 named the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in the USA. Join this exploration and celebration of the cultural, commercial, and culinary significance of the agave plant in the southern Arizona-Mexico border region. The festival features 26 events, including varied talks, demonstrations, tours, tastings, dinners and exhibits at several venues. Presentations and demonstrations -- which take place at the Hotel Congress, Exo Bar, Fox Theater, Loft Cinema, Maynards Market & Kitchen, Mission Garden, Tohono Chul, Tumamoc Hill, and other places -- will be led by distinguished experts involved in all aspects of study and production related to the vital Southwestern plant.
