March 7, 2020
Tucson Gran Fondo
Venue: Ten 55 Brewing
Time: From: 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
The second annual Tucson Gran Fondo, hosted by Ten55 Brewing Co. in conjunction with the Greater Arizona Bicycling Association (GABA), is similar to the very first Gran Fondo, or Big Ride, that originated in Italy in 1970 and is now hosted worldwide. The Tucson Gran Fondo is intended to bring cyclists of all skill levels and the local community together to celebrate the sport of cycling and to showcase the rebirth of downtown Tucson.
Riders in the 2020 non-timed/non-competitive event will enjoy Tucson's beautiful scenery rolling along one of four routes: 76-mile Longo, 62-mile Medio/Metric Century, 31-mile Corto, and 11-mile Piccolo/Fun Ride. Start times are 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM.
All rides start and finish downtown on Scott Avenue, between Congress Street and Broadway Boulevard in downtown Tucson.
New route improvements are designed to provide an even more enjoyable experience as riders will avoid many busy intersections and spend more time on The Loop multiuse path. Riders may pick up their Gran Fondo packet (t-shirt, wristband, bib number, ride maps, cue sheets) on the mezzanine of Ten55 Brewing Company on Friday, March 6 from 5 PM to 8 PM or at the ride site starting at 7:30 AM on the day of the ride. All riders must conclude their rides by 3 PM
A huge block party with live music, food and beer, and cycling follows the ride. Friends, family and the general public are invited to join the riders at the Start/Finish line after-party on Scott Avenue, between Congress Street and Broadway Boulevard, from 11:00 AM to 6 PM.
This years after-party will feature live music from Fifty Shades of Grey Hair and Hey Bucko as well as games and a wider variety of delicious food and craft beers provided by Ten55 Brewing Co. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Diabetes Association and Wheels for Kids.
