The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) – the premier association supporting and enabling festival and event professionals worldwide – announced and recognized the 2017 recipients of their “IFEA World Festival & Event City” award, during the 62nd Annual IFEA Convention, Expo & Retreat in Tucson, Arizona, United States on September 14, 2017.
On December 11, 2015, Tucson, Arizona became one of 116 Member Cities of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Creative Cities program - established in 2004 to promote cooperation between cities for "sustainable urban development" - and the only one in the United States selected for Gastronomy.

The seventh annual Vamos a Tucson Mexican Baseball Fiesta presented by Vantage West, Cox, and Visit Tucson will be played on October 5 – 8, 2017 at Kino Stadium in Tucson. This year’s event will include the Naranjeros de Hermosillo, Yaquis de Obregon, Aguilas de Mexicali, and the Cañeros de Los Mochis, all of the Mexican Pacific League (Liga Mexicana Del Pacifico), as well as top prospects from one Major League Baseball (MLB) organization to be determined. Hermosillo and Obregon have participated in all seven years.
Casino Del Sol, The Sol of Tucson, will host the “To Bead True Blue” bead show and the all-new “Colors of the Stone” gem show for the first time in the show’s 15-year run.
The NOVA® Home Loans Arizona Bowl announced that is has moved the date for the 2017 bowl game to Friday, December 29, 2017. The game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. MST at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.
