31st AAIC Annual Meeting

September 8-11, 2019

El Conquistador Tucson Hilton Resort

10000 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85704

The AAIC promotes activities in industrial crops including alternative sources of rubber and resin, fiber crops, oilseeds, and medicinal plants. It also helps educate and inform stakeholders through annual meetings by providing venues to present and discuss the latest findings in various industrial and new crops globally as well as developments in their utilization and commercialization efforts.

This year’s meeting will be in Tucson which is in the Sonoran Desert region of southern Arizona. The city is a land of contrasts. Mountain meets desert and nature surrounds, with plenty of room to roam.

Tucson has a rich agricultural heritage dating back 4,000 years and a 300-year tradition of orchards, vineyards, and livestock ranching helped earn Tucson a UNESCO "City of Gastronomy" title in 2015. Near Tucson’s birthplace downtown, tours are given at a living agricultural museum of Sonoran Desert-adapted heritage fruit-trees, traditional local heirloom crops, and edible native plants. At local restaurants and markets, farmers and chefs are fusing old and new flavors, so Tucson tastes like nowhere else.

The meeting venue will be north of downtown, in Oro Valley at the El Conquistador Tucson, A Hilton Resort which is the only resort in Arizona to win the AAA Four Diamond designation for 34 straight years. Dining here combines Southwest-inspired dishes with spectacular views of Pusch Ridge.
