Pinal County

See history, science and nature converge, just north of Tucson.

Located in the central part of Arizona, 70 miles northwest of Tucson, Pinal County is the third largest county in Arizona and one of the fastest growing in the United States. Pinal County was formed in 1875, and as of 2010 its population was 375,770.

The county seat is in the town of Florence, home to the 1891 second Pinal County Courthouse, a noteworthy example of American-Victorian style and 19th century construction technology on the Southwestern frontier.

Pinal County's landscape is divided by soaring mountains that include mining communities on its eastern side, and low deserts with settlements based on agriculture on its western side. Visitor attractions in Pinal County include Oracle State ParkBiosphere 2 in Oracle, Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park near Superior, Picacho Peak State Park, Florence Townsite Historic District, and Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, among others.
