TUCSON, Ariz., May 23, 2019 – Plans for a midday kick-off at the 5th NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl on Tuesday, December 31 were confirmed today with the announcement of the Bowl’s local game time of 2:30 pm MST (4:30 pm EST) at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network, featuring football foes from the Mountain West and Sun Belt Conferences.
The scheduling decision was met with favor by bowl executives who had expressed interest in a mid-afternoon slot to maximize not only local attendance and national television viewership, but the events and activities planned prior to and immediately following the game as well.
“This really is the ideal time for the game to get underway, and we’re thrilled that the bowl will anchor a full day and evening of associated events that will continue to make our bowl a one-of-a-kind celebration,” said Kym Adair, executive director of the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl. “This will be an historic day in Tucson with our slate of new traditions, and we’ll be honored to showcase our great community before a national audience at a time of day that’s convenient for all.”
The day will begin at 10:00 am with the Desert Diamond Casino Tailgate Festival featuring live entertainment, music, the charity village, and food and beverage for all. The NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl will then kick-off at 2:30 pm, and festivities will culminate with the Downtown New Year’s Eve Bowl Bash starting at 6:00 pm. The Bowl Bash is a community event that will amplify the energy at Arizona Stadium earlier in the day and draw it out to Tucson’s dynamic downtown that evening, where entertainment, fireworks, live performances, food vendors, a beer garden, and other bowl-related activities will be hosted throughout the night and into the New Year.
