Tucson Named First UNESCO City of Gastronomy

On December 11, 2015, Tucson, Arizona became one of 116 Member Cities of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Creative Cities program - established in 2004 to promote cooperation between cities for "sustainable urban development" - and the only one selected for Gastronomy.

Gin Blossoms to Headline NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl Pre-game Tailgate Festival

Wrapping up a national tour that made more than 100 stops this year alone, the Grammy Award-nominated Gin Blossoms will return to their native Arizona on December 30 to perform at the Desert Diamond Casino Tailgate Festival, the epic entertainment experience that will rally fans for the second NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. 

2nd Saturdays Begins Winter Hours on December 10th

On December 10th, 2nd Saturdays Downtown starts its winter schedule. The fun kicks off at 2p.m. and lasts until approximately 8p.m. Music starts on the stage at 4p.m. Congress Street will be full of activities and street performers to entertain you, from Toole Ave. to Church Ave. Get on board and join the fun!

Arizona Businesses Rally to Send Thousands of Local ‘Heroes’ to NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, Dec. 30

Corporate sponsors of the Heroes Tribute program--which would translate to 8,000 active duty military, veterans, police officers, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, Border Patrol, paramedics, and teachers being able to enjoy this athletics event--will have the opportunity to choose a hero group to underwrite and then personally deliver NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl tickets to the group or have the tickets delivered on their behalf by bowl staff.

2017 MLS Preseason in Tucson Schedule - Jan. 27-Feb. 25

Pima County, Visit Tucson, and the Town of Oro Valley will partner with FC Tucson and Major League Soccer on 2017 MLS Preseason in Tucson. The first period, the Desert Friendlies, will take place from Friday, Jan. 27 through Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017. The second period, the Desert Diamond Cup, kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and concludes on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017.

UnSilencing Anatomies: Art, culture, justice & medicine: story-telling as transformation

Kore Press and the University of Arizona have joined forces to create a city-wide, 2-month long series of events exploring the impact of personal stories on public health and safety. “UnSilencing Anatomies” kick-off events run from October 1 -7 (details below), and will include a streetcar journey/performance, story-gathering, readings, a panel, and exhibits.
