ADA Friendly Attractions
Our city might be a little off the beaten path, but we still want to make sure that our natural oasis can be accessed by anyone who has been inspired to see the beauty of our region.
Many of Tucson’s most popular spots for tourists are accessible to those who may be physically challenged. But when planning your trip be sure to contact the location or attraction you want to visit to find out the specifics on accessibility and necessary accommodations.
At the world-famous Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, for example, 96% of the exhibits can be reached by wheelchair, allowing most to see the amazing flora and fauna of the Sonoran desert in safety and comfort.
The beauty of Sabino Canyon, located in the northeast part of town, offers a wheelchair-accessible tram tour that travels 3.8 miles into the foothills of the Santa Catalina mountains.
The Pima Air & Space Museum also offers a wheelchair accessible tram (advance notice required) and also has flat and paved indoor hangars to show off their incredible collection of aircraft including the massive Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird.
Kartchner Caverns State Park®, to the southeast of Tucson, is not just one of the region's most spectacular sites to visit and explore, but it also holds the title of Arizona's most accessible state park.
If you’re looking for the region's most beautiful works of art and require wheelchair accessibility, then be sure to visit DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun, celebrating the life and work of Ted DeGrazia in an amazing setting. Many of Tucson’s other museums, including the Tucson Museum of Art, The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures, and the University of Arizona Museum of Art also provide highly accessible facilities for their patrons.
