Winter Meet at Rillito Park

They're off and running at Rillito Park Racetrack! A Tucson tradition that began in 1943.

Winter Meet at Rillito Park: Enjoy A Day at the Races

See you again in 2021!

Cheer for the fast horses, fabulous jockeys, big purses and all-ages fun at the 2020 Winter Meet at Rillito Park Racetrack. This place is a party with food, drinks and entertainment! Socialize and have a great time. Get a table in the clubhouse with an awesome mountain view. If you've always wanted to see the Budweiser Clydesdales, they'll scheduled to be here on February 29 and March 1!

In this lively crowd, you can enjoy an afternoon of thrilling racing with a vibe that rivals Derby Day. With the grandstand and clubhouse so close to the track, you can't help but feel as though you're a part of the action. No matter where you are, you are never too far to hear them shout, "They're off!"

'Be sure to check back for schedules in May-June when the park usually hosts three parties celebrating the Triple Crown series: Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes.

Equine Wellness Program

The Rillito Park Foundation Equine Wellness Program, one of the first programs of its kind in the country, was implemented during the 2019 Winter Meet to create a racing environment whereby the health and safety of horses and riders is a primary objective. The program was a resounding success as there were no horse breakdowns during 96 races at the meet that year.

A Hidden Gem

Rillito Park Racetrack is located in the shadows of the Santa Catalina Mountains in northwest Tucson. A hidden gem listed on the National Register of Historic Places (established in 1943), Tucson's longtime racetrack is considered the birthplace of modern, formalized quarter-horse racing as well as the photo finish and the straightaway “chute system,” a standard for quarter-horse racing today. Rillito Park is also one of the places that legendary racehorse trainer Bob Baffert got his start. Rillito Park's races are available to watch on Dish Network's Racing Package and Racetrack Television Network. (All dates are subject to approval by Arizona Board of Racing and may change.)
