Winter Shows
Each year, Tucson welcomes an international community:
of jewelers, collectors, vendors, buyers, scholars, scientists, miners, enthusiasts and the curious minds that sell, buy, and browse the gem, mineral & fossil shows. Visitors number in the tens of thousands annually!
Showing off all that glitters for more than 70 years...
From the inaugural Tucson Gem and Mineral Show ® in 1955, to the 1982 arrival of the American Gem Trade Association's GemFair, many shows have followed. Now, for nearly a month starting at the end of January, more than 50 shows and related events (classes, museum exhibits, a music festival and enough metaphysical and wellness seminars to cure the winter blues) create a buzz of passion and excitement across Tucson's metro.
Become A Part Of It
- More than 80% of shows are open to the public. A few offer advance registration. A couple charge admission. Please check the listings for updated information.
- Got credentials (like a business license)? If so, you can gain admission to the wholesale shows as well as the public shows.
- Not a shopper? There's plenty to look at, including educational exhibits for families and themed collections of world-class specimens that may never be shown together again.
- Looking for something specific? Our Visitor Information staff is happy to help you find stones you might be seeking, as well as accommodations and attractions information. Don't forget our award-winning dining options, with a culinary choice AND vibe for every palate and mood.
- True Story: several years ago a woman called our VIS team looking for shows that carried a very specific stone. A Visit Tucson team member helped her with research, located options for her, and they wound up staying in touch and having lunch during the shows. That's who we are and that's why we ROCK!
