Tucson, AZ – September 5, 2024 – Mariana de la Vega Art Gallery is excited to announce the opening of “Frontiers/Fronteras”, a new exhibition featuring the work of local and international artist Rafael Angel Diaz. The exhibition will run from September 21st to 28th, 2024, with an opening reception on September 21st at 6 PM.

Diaz, a Puerto Rican artist, presents a deeply personal exploration of Arizona and the island of Puerto Rico in his latest exhibition. Both cities, though separated by thousands of miles, share a complex history marked by Spanish colonialism, indigenous roots, and the enduring impacts of imperialism and immigration. Diaz juxtaposes the idyllic beauty of these locations against pressing global challenges such as climate change, cultural displacement, and the mistreatment of immigrants. This exhibition, entitled "Frontiers" or "Fronteras," underscores the interconnectedness of these two seemingly distant places.

Mariana de la Vega Art Gallery, a vibrant hub for the Tucson art community, is proud to host this exciting exhibition. The exhibition and opening reception are open to the public.
