You’ll also find a wide range of options. Take your pick from breweries, country/western saloons, college bars, theaters, comedy clubs, LGBTQ bars and clubs, live music venues, and casinos. With most establishments serving until 2 a.m., there’s plenty of time to soak in that irresistible, laid-back Tucson vibe.
Historic Hangouts
A night spent in the kaleidoscope nightlife of Tucson wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Hotel Congress. Opened in 1918, there's a lot of history in the building, from the antique telephone switchboard currently used by the lobby clerk to the missing third floor—lost to the 1934 fire that ultimately led to the capture of John Dillinger.
Once you arrive, have an outstanding dinner at the timeless yet always chic Cup Cafe. After your meal, cross the lobby to Club Congress, where, depending on the night, multiple bars are open, a dance party is going down, or national or local acts are rocking indoor and outdoor stages.
You can stitch together an exciting night of beautiful randomness by following the Tucson nightclubs of Congress Street District to the always animated Fourth Ave District. Still looking for more? Revisit those college days next to the University of Arizona in the ever-spirited Main Gate District.
While not a longtime historic operation like Hotel Congress, Tap & Bottle resides in the inspiring Tucson Warehouse Arts District in an alluring historic building. It's a happening place to people-watch and catch live music. With over 600 beers to choose from, you can't lose.
Comedy Clubs
Like any place worth visiting, Tucson overflows with laughter. It is everywhere, and it is infectious. Perhaps you’re looking for laughs Thursday – Saturday night? Located right off of Historic Fourth Ave, the Tucson Improv Movement is your one-stop shop for all things hilarious. Since 2012, TIM has done big things in Tucson. Duck in for a drink and experience a brand of improv, sketch, and stand-up comedy unlike any other.
If you’re interested in additional Tucson comedy clubs, since 1988, Laff’s Comedy Café has kept the stand-up hilarity rolling.
Dance Clubs
On dance nights, the previously mentioned Club Congress is a must for hitting the dance floor like you own it.
For a Fourth Ave LGBTQ dance club that never disappoints, IBT’s is the spot. While not every night at IBT’s is an epic dance party, those that are, take the club’s energy to the next level.
To take in the full Old West experience, slip on your boots and hat and head to The Maverick out on Tanque Verde Rd. to catch live bands, and DJs, and have a rootin' tootin' good time on the dance floor.
For a college dance party experience, check out O'Malley’s On Fourth, HighWire Tucson, and Gentle Ben's Brewing Co.
