WHAT:
Arizona Theatre Company presents the ATC Cinema Series, featuring four new titles over four weekends this summer. ATC has been given exclusive rights in Tucson to share the best plays in British theatre available on cinema screens by National Theatre Live, which films each play in front of a live theatre audience and optimizes everything for the big screen for audiences worldwide to enjoy.
WHEN:
- The Audience
Friday, June 20 at 7 PM, Saturday, June 27 at 2 PM, and Sunday, June 28 at 2 PM- Returning to cinemas for the first time in over a decade, Helen Mirren plays Queen Elizabeth II in the Olivier and Tony Award-winning hit production, directed by Stephen Daldry.
- For 60 years, Queen Elizabeth II met with each of her 12 prime ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. From Winston Churchill to Margaret Thatcher and David Cameron, the Queen advised her prime ministers on matters both public and personal. Through these private audiences, we see glimpses of the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped a monarch.
- Pete Morgan’s Netflix phenomenon The Crown was based on this hit play that was captured live from London’s West End in 2013 and went on to become one of the most-watched National Theatre Live productions.

- BAFTA Award-winner Lesley Manviulle (Phantom Thread) joins Aidan Turner (Rivals) in a striking new staging of Christopher Hampton’s celebrated adaptation of the classic novel, where among the glittering salons of the super-rich, one misstep can mean ruin.
- Marquiese de Merteuil is a master in the art of survival. Alongside the magnetic Vicomte de Valmont, they turn seduction into strategy and weaponize desire. But when their alliance collapses into rivalry, the battle between them threatens to destroy everyone in their path.
- Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Marianna Elliott (Angels in America) directs this thrilling game of love, lies, and social warfare.

Friday, July 24 at 7 PM, Saturday, July 25 at 2 PM, and Sunday, July 26 at 2 PM- Olivier Award winner Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Dunkirk) is joined by Emmy and BAFTA winner Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, The Responder) in the critically acclaimed and subversively funny new play by David Ireland.
- After years in the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous, James becomes a sponsor to newcomer Luka. The pair bond over black coffee, trade stories, and build a fragile friendship out of their shared experiences. But as Luka approaches step five – the moment of confessions – dangerous truths emerge, threatening the trust on which both of their recoveries depend.

Friday, July 31 at 7 PM, Saturday, August 1 at 2 PM, and Sunday, August 2 at 2 PM- Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Marianne Jen-Baptiste (Hard Truths) feature in a five-star, triumphantly acclaimed new production of Arthur Miller’s classic play, from visionary director IvoVan Hove (A View from the Bridge).
- One family, the heart of the American dream. When wartime delivers profits for Joe, it comes at a price when his partner is charged with criminal manufacturing deals, and his eldest son goes missing in action. Will peacetime bring peace of mind, or will he be confronted by the consequences of his actions?
- Filmed live from the West End, Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), Tomorrow Flynn-Carney (House of the Dragon), and Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake) also feature in this disturbingly prescient play.

For 59 years, Arizona Theatre Company has presented live professional regional theatre in Arizona. As Arizona’s only League of Resident Theatres member and the only theatre of 81 nationally that performs in two cities, ATC presents five plays/musicals each season in both Tucson and Metro Phoenix.
National Theatre Live is the National Theatre’s groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre live from the London stage to cinemas across the UK and around the world. Plays are filmed in front of a live theatre audience at the National Theatre in London, optimizing everything for the big screen so it’s the next best thing to being there. The actors on stage deliver their performances as they normally would any other night. NTL tailors the position of cameras to capture each production and works closely with technical teams to make sure every element on stage such as lighting, hair, and make-up look fantastic on the big screen.

General Admission tickets are available online at atc.org/ntl for $15 ($7 + $8 service fee). Doors open 30 minutes before showtime and seating is first-come, first-served. Bar service and snacks will be available.
