TUCSON, AZ – Coming this winter, a low and slow classic: The Tucson Desert Art Museum is proud to bring the Lowrider Culture in the United States / Cultura Lowrider en los Estados Unidos traveling exhibition to Tucson.
For three months, this celebration of community and pride will be featured at the Museum, providing visitors with a colorful look at how the artistry, engineering, and meticulous craftsmanship of lowriding has united art, history and activism since the 1940s.
What the Tucson Desert Art Museum showcase covers:
● artistic expression and tradition of lowriding in the United States
●creativity, craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural expression
●vibrant framed digital prints, artwork, historical objects, oral histories, and multimedia presentations
●authentic lowrider automobiles, bicycles, and custom car components from Southern Arizona
Lowrider Culture in the United States / Cultura Lowrider en los Estados Unidos is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Museum of American History. The exhibition received federal support from the Latino Initiatives Pool, administered by the National Museum of the American Latino.
