Ready for a night out?

The desert runs hot all day. The nights? That's when things get fun. Tucson's after-dark scene is filled with historic bars, hidden speakeasies you have to earn your way into, and dance floors that don't quit until the early hours. No matter your vibe, we've got your night covered. Here's all the fun things to get into when the sun goes down.

BARS

Hotel Congress | Downtown

Locals and visitors alike discover the convenience of multiple bars under one historic roof. The legendary Tap Room has been a Tucson landmark since being the first bar operating after Prohibition and the stories haven't stopped since.

Century Room | Downtown

A borderlands jazz club & mezcal lounge. The Century Room has quickly become one of the premier jazz clubs in the country. Performers hit the stage nightly, traveling from jazz meccas like New York City, Los Angeles, and New Orleans right here in the heart of Tucson.

The Boxyard | Downtown

Ten colorful shipping containers with three restaurants, three bars, and a beyond-epic courtyard. A full bar with some amazing late-night bites.

Crisol | Barrio Viejo

A 1895 adobe house by day, an agave-lover's sanctuary by night. Walls covered in agave-centric art, maps, and an insane collection of vintage typewriters set the scene for some serious mezcal exploration. Catch their agave spirits tasting the first Thursday of the month.

The Shelter | Midtown

Step back into the 1960s when themed establishments were all the rage when you visit The Shelter Bar in Tucson Arizona. This time capsule of a cocktail lounge not only has incredible decor, the atmosphere is just as good.

Sidecar | Midtown

A neighborhood spot for good drinks. All about craft cocktails made with fresh ingredients, a little creativity, and bartenders who love what they do.

SPEAKEASIES

Tough Luck Club | Downtown

Located in the basement of Reilly Craft Pizza, this speakeasy-style bar exudes a unique charm with its dim lighting and cozy booths. Fun fact, the walls of exposed volcanic rock were harvested from A Mountain around 1906 meaning you're drinking history. The rotating cocktail menu features original creations that keep both locals and visitors coming back for more.

Prohibicion | Downtown

Hidden beneath Sonora Moonshine Co., this dimly lit speakeasy invites you to enjoy crafted specialty cocktails in an intimate setting. Like the bar above, the focus is on agave, mixologists craft agave-centered cocktails on the spot, or you can choose from a number of picturesque signature drinks. The glowing red space, sourced with vintage market finds, makes every visit feel like uncovering a well-kept secret.

Snake and Barrel | Downtown

The offshoot concept of downtown Tucson's venerable whiskey haven, Batch, Snake & Barrel hides in plain sight with an understated entrance off Congress Street. Once below, guests enjoy two thousand square feet of revelry, with an exceptional array of spirits, tempting cocktails, and barrel-aged concoctions. The speakeasy downstairs has the same sense of fun as Batch upstairs and cocktails aged in-house.

Owls Club | Downtown

Nestled inside a 1920s structure decorated with beautiful stained glass and chandeliers, the Owls Club provides a warmth and elegance to the neighborhood bar experience. The building was formerly a funeral home, and low lighting, stained glass windows, and lots of dark wood give the room a moody, sophisticated vibe. An extensive whiskey selection, old world wine list, and well-curated spirits collection round out the offerings.

The Still | Midtown

Located inside an Italian restaurant, The Still is a speakeasy experience where admission is only allowed by reservation. Tucked behind the kitchen of Vero Amore, it offers an elevated sipping experience from some of the biggest food and liquor nerds in the business. The cocktail menu reinvents itself seasonally and occasionally on a whim.

DANCE CLUBS IN TUCSON

Dancing at a bar

IBT's Bar | Downtown

IBT's has been entertaining locals and tourists since 1985 and is one of the best dance clubs in the Southwest. Three rooms and two dance floor spaces mean you can move between vibes without leaving the club and the outdoor patio comes with its own full-service bar. Drag shows run every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 9 p.m.

Playground Bar and Lounge | Downtown

A venue made for high-energy dining and drinking, set over two floors with a spacious rooftop as the true gem. The SkyDeck offers unparalleled views of downtown with plenty of space to lounge. Whether you're dancing into the morning or catching a live set, this place truly has something for everyone.

The Maverick | Eastside

A Tucson institution since 1962, The Maverick King of Clubs is the country bar for live music, dancing, and good times. Weekends feature live country bands, dance lessons, and then open dancing all night. Even those who don't normally dance end up on the dance floor.

Whiskey Roads | Northside

Another country-themed bar, nightclub, and restaurant in Southern Arizona, with live music from some of the area's best bands, DJs, line dancing with lessons throughout the week, and pool tables. The space features two bars, two patios, two DJ stations, and two separate dining areas making it the biggest country nightclub in the state. It's also the official home of the Tucson Rodeo.
