Heading north, there are options ranging from Bosnian cuisine to beer pubs.

Once people started heading northwest to get their views of Pusch Ridge, delicious dining options followed quickly. Skip the chains and try one of these establishments - with options including Bosnian meat-fests and gastropubs.

10355 N La Canada Dr

(520) 731-1100

There’s something comforting about the atmosphere at Harvest - which also has a second location at River and Craycroft, if you happen to be further east. It feels like the perfect neighborhood restaurant, a place - and pardon the cliché - where everyone might know your name. Harvest combines a relaxed, charming atmosphere with an attention to detail and a passion for local, fresh ingredients (everything is made from scratch, from the bread to the juices poured in their cocktails) to provide an all-around excellent dining experience.

Noble Hops

1335 W Lambert Ln

(520) 797-4677

Tucson’s a great place to get a beer and on the northwest side in Oro Valley, it’s hard to beat the incredible selection at gastropub, Noble Hops. You can pick a local brew or try something from one of America’s innovative craft breweries, pairing your choice with a delicious burger or salad. Conveniently enough, each item on the menu suggests a style of beer that would pair well.

2040 W Orange Grove Rd

(520) 297-9011

Located in the same shopping center as Tucson’s best international market (who knew there were so many types of soy sauce?), Ikkyu manages to be both an incredible bargain and a place where you can get superbly-delicious sushi, noodle dishes and more. It’s not fancy at Ikkyu and there aren’t all that many seats, but if you like the authentic flavors of Japan, Ikkyu won’t disappoint.

Vero Amore

12130 N Dove Mountain Blvd

(520) 579-2292

More pizza places seem to pop up every day, often focusing on speed of service, but while Vero Amore’s 800-degree wood-burning stone oven does make for a quickly cooked pizza, that’s not really what this restaurant (with two Tucson locations) is about. Here, the mozzarella is freshly made and the tomatoes are brought in from Italy. Sure, you could also go for the pasta or salads also on the menu, but if you’d like a pizza crafted with care for a sophisticated palate, Vero Amore is definitely your place.

7037 N Oracle Rd

(520) 219-4230

Restaurant tycoon Sam Fox’s first restaurant, Wildflower American Cuisine, might still be one of his best, with a seasonal menu focusing on fresh ingredients and a great atmosphere. The service is impeccable, the drinks are great and the patio is a perfect spot to spend some time. What more could you ask for?

Chef Alisah’s

5931 N Oracle Rd

(520) 887-5305

You can decide for yourself how seriously to take online review sites, but Chef Alisah’s, a Bosnian restaurant (yes, seriously) tucked into a weird business complex off Oracle, is frequently among the best-reviewed restaurants in Tucson. Here’s what we know about Bosnian food: if you’re a meat-eater, you’ll love it, as sausages and cabbage leaves stuffed with ground beef are among the highlights on Chef Alisah’s menu. Want to try something new on the culinary map? Chef Alisah will provide a delicious adventure.
