Tucson, AZ – April 10, 2026 – De La Vega Art Gallery is excited to announce the opening of “Barrios: Arizona & Puerto Rico,” a new exhibition featuring the work of Puerto Rican artist Rafael Angel Diaz. The exhibition will run from April 25th to May 30th, 2026, with an opening reception on April 25th at 6 PM.
Diaz presents a selection of his most recent works created in Tucson, Arizona, and Carolina, Puerto Rico. These works reflect Diaz’s exploration of the natural beauty and architectural character of both urban and rural settings, particularly those shaped by working-class communities. His intention within this exhibition is to reveal the inherent beauty of both environments, even amidst the complexities of social and political realities.
De La Vega Art Gallery, a vibrant hub for the Tucson art community, is proud to host this exciting exhibition. The exhibition and opening reception are open to the public.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Rafael Angel Diaz divides his time between Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, and Tucson, Arizona. He has a Pharmacy Degree, a Master of Science Degree, and a Master of Spanish Literature. He has an extensive oeuvre in oil and acrylic painting and has exhibited in Puerto Rico, Florida, South Carolina, and Colorado. His works are included in many private and public collections throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Rafael’s work has also been selected for the prestigious Arizona Biennial Exhibition for 2026.
