Tucson, AZ — Since 2000, the historic Stillwell House has been a cornerstone of the Flores family’s Si Charro! catering and events program. Purchased by the Flores family of the famed El Charro Café as a unique setting for a family wedding, the property is now owned and operated by Candace Flores Carrillo, who brings more than 25 years of catering and event design experience to the family-owned venue.
Candace oversees events at Stillwell House and The Carriage House, as well as the extensive Si Charro! catering program for El Charro Café, Charro Steak and The Monica. Her mother, acclaimed Chef Carlotta Flores, leads the in-house Stillwell Catering Co. alongside her talented culinary team.
One of Tucson’s authentic historic landmarks, Stillwell House combines historic elegance with the warmth and hospitality of the Southwest. The property’s brick-lined courtyard, lush landscaping, blossoming fruit trees, fountains and twinkling lights create an intimate and enchanting setting for weddings, celebrations, corporate gatherings and special events.
Throughout the year, Candace invites the public to experience the property through a series of seasonal open houses. Guests can tour the house, courtyard and gardens, meet the Stillwell House team and connect with local makers, bakers, artisans and community partners who provide a variety of event services and amenities.
Each open house features complimentary bites and beverages, along with opportunities to discover ideas and inspiration for upcoming celebrations.

THE STILLWELL HOUSE: A TUCSON LANDMARK
Stillwell House has been an integral part of Downtown Tucson and the Arts District since 1901, when it was built by James Twiggs, an Irish innkeeper, and his wife, Lucy Stillwell-Twiggs. Originally constructed as a boarding house for railroad workers, the property has witnessed more than a century of Tucson history.
The house fell into disrepair in the 1980s and endured two fires that charred its façade and severely damaged the interior while the property stood vacant. In 1988, a local couple purchased the building with plans to transform it into a sheet-music store and performance space. Although the historic façade was salvageable, the interior required extensive renovation.
Those renovations were completed in 1990, when Stillwell House reopened for event bookings. A decade later, in 2000, the property became part of the Flores family’s growing hospitality and catering legacy, joining the family behind Tucson institution El Charro Café.
Today, Stillwell House continues that legacy, welcoming guests into a one-of-a-kind setting where Tucson history, Southwest hospitality and exceptional catering come together.
