TUCSON, AZ (September 8, 2026) The Tucson Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Tucson, Visit Tucson, and Tucson-Mexico Sister Cities are thrilled to present a FREE Mexican Independence Day celebration concert for another year, taking place downtown on Tuesday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall. Music Director José Luis Gómez will conduct the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, featuring tenor Carlos Zapién, along with Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High School, and the Compañía de Danza Folklórica Arizona for an unforgettable evening of music and dance honoring the rich cultural traditions and vibrant musical heritage of Mexico.
More than a concert, this special celebration honors the deep cultural ties between Tucson and Mexico. It reflects Arizona’s close connection to its southern neighbor and the generations of Mexican heritage woven into Southern Arizona’s historic fabric.The “El Grito” ceremony will be led by Consul Fernando Adrián Sánchez Roldán.
From beloved Mexican favorites like Somos Novios and Bésame Mucho, to Volver, Volver and Cielito Lindo¸ the program will showcase Mexican culture presented with the artistry of a live symphony orchestra. The concert continues the Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s commitment to presenting music that reflects the diverse community it serves in Southern Arizona, while creating opportunities for audiences of all backgrounds to experience the symphony hall in new and meaningful ways.

Ticket Information
Due to high demand, a maximum of four tickets per reservation will be allotted by emailing comunidadestuc@sre.gob.mx with the patron’s name, quantity of tickets being requested, and patron’s contact information. Patrons may pick up tickets by showing a valid ID at the consulate only, between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by Friday, September 11th. Tickets will not be available at the Tucson Symphony Box office.
