TUCSON, AZ (October 21, 2026) The Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s Latin Sizzle, part of its Fiesta Latina programming, takes the stage this weekend with performances Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall downtown.

Internationally acclaimed Venezuelan artists, cuatro virtuoso Jorge Glem and bassist Elvis Martínez, join their compatriot, Music Director José Luis Gómez, and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra in a celebration of Venezuelan music and culture.

The program opens with Inocente Carreño’s Margariteña. Glem and Martínez are featured in Aldemaro Romero’s Fuga con Pajarillo, followed by Glem in a recent addition to the program: Gonzalo Grau’s Odisea. Odisea was recently nominated for a 2026 Latin Grammy Award ahead of the November 12 ceremony, adding a timely note of international recognition for Venezuelan music. The concert concludes with Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5.

Each soloist is a powerful artist in their own right, with a distinctive mission to share the musical traditions of their homeland with the world. After recently performing with Gustavo Dudamel at the Hollywood Bowl in late August to the TSO’s home at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall, they bring a fiery blend of technical mastery and classical elements to the folk music of their native Venezuela. The collaboration highlights the intersection of Venezuelan rhythms to contemporary Latin music and symphonic performance.

¡Fiesta Latina! is a part of ¡Celebración Latina!, which is generously underwritten by the I. Michael and Beth Kasser Foundation.
