The World of Sports—the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, as they say—is immense, and Tucson has hosted nearly every type of competition under the sun. Our history backs this up with Visit Tucson helping to facilitate everything from large-scale youth soccer tournaments to preseason training and matches for Major League Soccer. Our team can help your teams get into a world-class aquatic center or ready for a high-speed drone race. If it brings people to Tucson and we can provide an experience that’s memorable (in good ways), Visit Tucson’s Sports department is all in.
Why the Tucson region for your sporting event? The weather, not surprisingly, is part of the equation—simply, Tucson can be a sports mecca during times of the year when much of the country is still huddled in their homes suffering through winter. But there’s also a lot more to it than that. It also definitely helps that Tucson is a generally affordable place, but room rates (which Visit Tucson can help find discounts on, it should be mentioned) aren’t the only factor either.
In Tucson, the story is really about going the extra mile to make your event happen, and the creativity and ingenuity we employ to make our region the right fit. When a ballpark built for the pros became available, we worked to fill those fields and facilities with events like Tucson Invitational Games, a locally run national event that brings collegiate baseball and softball teams here for preseason competition. We do the same for the international baseball teams that come to Tucson to practice—from South Korea, Mexico, and elsewhere. Even USA Rugby has held weekend-long events at Kino.

Now that Kino Sports Complex’s expansion is complete, it allows us to host larger events or multiple groups at the same time. You can have soccer on the north complex, baseball in the main, and we now have 12 new multipurpose fields to the south. These new fields allow Visit Tucson to pursue larger field-sporting events like lacrosse, field hockey, and, yes, even drone races. Kino’s recent expansion also included 20 lighted pickleball courts, ready to host players who are part of a rapidly expanding sport.
While youth sports are still a big part of any area’s sports plan, adult sporting events, like the aforementioned pickleball, are a welcome driver of economic impact. Visit Tucson is actively pursuing more of those competitions, with a specific emphasis on non-traditional sports events (including LGBTQ and adaptive).

Of course, all the customer service and great weather in the world won’t make for a great event if the facilities aren’t there. Thankfully, the metro Tucson area has the fields, pools, courts, and ranges a planner needs. Golf courses that have hosted the pros, competition-ready aquatic centers, mountain bike courses, race tracks, a convention center that adapts exceptionally well, and the 155 acres of the Kino Sports Complex, are among Tucson’s sports amenities.
If we can make high-speed drone races happen, we can help you with your event. Just get in touch.
