Sentinel Peak

Drive, hike or ride to the top of this iconic peak and enjoy panoramic views of the city.

Sentinel Rising

Just west of downtown sits Sentinel Peak, otherwise known as "A" Mountain. At the base sits Mission Garden, which recreates Tucson's 4,000-year agricultural history, reflecting part of the reason Tucson was chosen as the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in the United States.

Here at the west end of the SunLink Modern Streetcar route, you'll find Mercado San Agustín, the city's premier public market which hosts local eateries, including Tucson's famed Mexican bakery (La Estrella), a taqueria, and one of the best coffee shops in town. Sit in the sunny courtyard surrounded by local artisans or enjoy a meal at one of Tucson's best and most innovative restaurants, Agustin Kitchen. Folks gather here for a weekly farmers market, plus outdoor movies, food truck round-ups and live concerts.

This area is also the epicenter for the All Souls Procession weekend with the parade finale culminating here in a performance that mixes modern art with the inspiration of ancient culture.

Not far from the Mercado, there's also some of Tucson's most historic neighborhoods with numerous opportunities to experience Tucson's Borderlands culture. The annual Fiesta Grande Street Fair is not to be missed, but restaurants like soup-fan paradise Tania's 33 and seafood celebration Mariscos Chihuahua are around all year long for your enjoyment.
