A Golfer's Dream

Discover why pro golfers and PGA TOUR events have been coming to Tucson since 1945.

Tune in to the Golf Arizona Radio Show with Rick Price on Saturdays from 8 to 9 AM (Arizona time) on ESPN Tucson 104.9 FM or 1490 AM. Conversations are focused on local golf of southern Arizona along with the people and events of the game at all levels.

Prioritizing safety and health is a serious concern these days. Golf, at least for the moment, is an excellent "socially distanced" outlet for mental and physical health. Please practice caution and follow official recommendations as well as guidelines at any course you play. Guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and government restrictions are changing daily, so check first before you head to the course.

A Golfer's Dream

With more than 40 courses throughout the region players of all skill levels will find endless options in Tucson. Our rich golf tradition is embodied by Cologuard Classic, a Tucson PGA TOUR Champions Tour event played on Omni Tucson National's Catalina Course each March. The Catalina Course and its companion Sonoran Course are also open for resort and daily-fee play for those who want to follow in the footsteps of the champions.

Whether you're a novice or a seasoned golfer, Oro Valley has a course for you. The El Conquistador Golf at the Oro Valley Community Center offers a strenuous test on its Conquistador Course, while its 18-hole Cañada Course is perfect for families and the time-challenged because it occasionally offers three-hole rounds. It even offers a separate, executive nine holes at Pusch Ridge.

Tucson -- a home for professional golf for decades -- offers a wide variety of courses and experiences, all set in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

Sewailo Golf Club at Casino Del Sol Resort, Spa and Conference Center, is a must-play for avid golfers. This Ty Butler/Notah Begay-designed course opened in late 2013. It's 40,000 native plants and 14 acres of lakes create a golfing oasis in the Sonoran Desert.

The Gallery Golf Club offers high-end golf experiences. Tucson boasts some of the nation’s top resort courses, including JW Marriott Starr Pass Golf Club — former home to the PGA Tour’s long-running Tucson Open — Ventana Canyon Golf Club’s Mountain and Canyon courses.

The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf Club boasts two of famed golf course architect Tom Fazio's best; the Mountain Course's signature third hole, the aptly named "Hole in the Wall," is one of the most photographed holes west of the Mississippi.

A perfect way for avid golfers to round out their Tucson golf trips is by adding in an affordable, but challenging, round at Crooked Tree Golf Course or at one of the City of Tucson’s five outstanding municipal courses.

Located at a higher elevation than most other golf clubs in Tucson, The Preserve Golf Club is set deep into the western foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains and features cooler temperatures, rolling fairways, undulating greens, and dramatic elevation changes. Three excellent restaurants are nearby, including The Preserve Restaurant & Bar - a gem among restaurants, with dining as spectacular as its panoramic golf course views.
