Comedy legend Teo González originally pursued a career as an athlete, playing as a goalkeeper for Club León F.C., in Mexican pro soccer’s First Division. He kept making his teammates laugh, which led him to try his jokes onstage at a nightclub his team was visiting. When the nightclub owner offered him work as a comedian, it was the trigger for González take up comedy full time.

González became a regular on local television in Guanajuato and later in Mexico City, before appearing on the nationally broadcast late night show “Al ritmo de la noche” in July 1997. In the following years he participated in events including “Espacio 98,” “Festival Acapulco 98” and “Festival Acapulco Milenio.” In March 1998, he joined the cast of the nationally broadcast comedy show “Para cargarse de risa.”

Due to his success in television, González was invited to represent Mexico in an international humor festival in Bogotá, Colombia. He proved so popular that he represented Mexico at the event for the next six straight years and began expanding his international appearances to countries such as Costa Rica and Venezuela. In the U.S., Teo González has appeared on “El blablazo,” “Despierta America,” “Sábado Gigante,” Don Francisco Presenta,” and “Pedro Sevcec.” Today, Teo González continues to tour major cities in Mexico, the U.S., and South America.

Treena Parvello, Director of Government and Public Relations for the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise, said, “Teo González is a favorite of audiences across the U.S. and Latin America and we are thrilled to welcome this Mexican comedy legend back to the Diamond Center for the first time since 2015.
